You can't quite afford that $10,000 show pony your daughter's pining for? This new game may be the next best thing. By using the arrow keys, you steer Barbie through five beautiful trails, winding through deserts, forests, caves and waterfalls. Barbie, a seasoned equestrian since Barb's Riding Club (4.5 stars, Jan '99 CSR) must solve a mystery of a prized horse that has disappeared. In order to crack the case, you must complete puzzles found in the train depot (move ramps to sort falling fruit), the riverside (fix a boat by matching shape outlines), or the prairie town (match lock combinations, and then play a bejeweled-style matching game. Riding activities include trotting, herding and jumping, feeding and grooming, and it is possible to dress Barbie and your horse. On the downside, there are some clunky aspects to the game play. For example, you can't ride Barbie off-trail, and she'll only dismount at certain places. All things considered, however, there's good replay value in the games, and a map makes it easy to jump from place to place to keep kids engaged. Combine those elements with the engaging logic puzzles and beautiful graphics, and this title is well worth the purchase. By Blue Monkey Studios.
